As the owner of a small print shop in Driggs, Idaho, Reed spends a lot of time thinking about new and exciting ways to tell visual stories and play with color. So, it wasn’t long before a machine in the shop sparked his attention and inspired him to try making coloring books.

Not just any coloring books though, he wanted something that would stand out from the rest, play with perception, and engage all ages through composition, humor, or imagination. From there, NYXBook was born.

Named after Nyx, the daughter of Chaos, and goddess of the night in Greek mythology, the books take a different approach to how we use and see color, showcasing images printed with white toner on black paper to bring artists’ visions to life.

Featuring drawings from local Teton Valley artists, the books traverse mountains and slopes, the ocean’s treasures, wild nature scenes, and animals with personalities bigger than most people. From kids to aging parents, the books have received rave reviews for their ability to take you on an adventure and encourage you to appreciate color along the way.
